Hotel room rates are subject to applicable state and local taxes (currently 13%) in effect at the time of check in.  The above room rates are guaranteed for dates of the reunion.  The group rate is available three days prior and three days post reunion.  Early arrivals or extended stay must reserve by 8/12/2012.  You must call the number above and ask for the COLLETT reunion rate.  Breakfast voucher for the restaurant 9/13/2-12 - 9/16/2012 per reunion registered guest.  Includes buffet and tax.

Schedule

Wednesday - 12th

Complimentary "Bristol" hospitality room 12:00 Noon until 10:30 PM.  Food and beverages brought is MUST stay in the Hospitality room.  Volunteers appreciated.

The Sheraton will offer a complimentary Welcome Reception on Wednesday September 12, 2012, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Reception Southwest.  We will provide you with appetizers, house wine, domestic beer, coffee, and soda during that time.

Thursday - 13th

Hospitality room is open daily, 7:30 PM until 10:30 PM.

Newport Tour

Price $42. per person with a minimum of 45 per motor coach:   departs hotel at 8:30AM, leave Newport at 1:45 PM, be back at the hotel at 2:30 PM.   This fabulous seaport city is home to the largest number of original Colonia buildings of any  city int he coun try.  In addition, it gained fame in the Gilded Age when the wealthy built mansions that they used in the summer months.  Tour one of the summer cottages, The Breakers, built in 1895 for Cornelius Vanderbilt.  This 70-room estate was modeled after a northern Italian Renaissance palace and the interior features rare marble, alabaster and gilded wood.  Enjoy a guided tour of the city, including the mansions along Bellevue Avenue and scenic 10 mile Ocean Drive.  There will be free time for lunch and shopping downtown.

 

The price includes motor coach transportation, tour of the Breakers mansion,  guided tour of Newport and driver and tour guide gratuity.

 

Friday - 14th

Newport Navy Base Tour

Price $28 per person with a minimum of 45 per motor coach:  Departs hotel  9:00 AM.  Returns 12:45 PM.

Naval Station Newport is home to the Naval War College and the Surface Warfare School, among other places.  It was the homeport for Cruiser Destroyer Force Atlantic (COMCRUDESLANT), and now maintains inactive ships at its pier facilities, including the USS Saratoga.

Take a driving tour through the Base and visit the Surface Warfare School, where, if scheduling permits, you will have a simulator demonstration.  Also visit the Naval War College Museum, housed in a National Historic Landmark building name Founders Hall.  The museum's theres are the history of naval warfare, particularly as studied at the College, and the naval heritage of Narragansett Bay, a tale that begins with the nation's colonial roots.

 The price includes motor coach transportation, tour guide to guide you through the Naval Base,  a tour of the Surface Warfare School , a visit to the Naval War College museum and driver and tour guide gratuity.

 

Saturday - 15th

 

Hospitality room is open daily, 7:30 AM until 10:30 PM.

 

Battleship Cove

Rate $54 per person with a minimum of 45 per motor coach:   Departs hotel 8:30 AM  returns 1:45 PM.

Travel to Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA.  Here we have a self guided tour of the most complete collection of 20th Century Naval ships in the country, including the USS MASSACHUSETTS, the WW II submarine USS LIONFISH and the destroyer USS JOSEPH P. KENNEDY, JR.

 

Also includes the Pearl Harbor experience, explore the two PT boats and the HIDDENSEE, a Soviet-built missile corvette and the only one of its kind on exhibit in the world.  Then sit down with your shipmates and enjoy a buffet lunch in the Officer's Wardroom on the main deck of the Batttleship USS MASSACHUSETTS.  The extensive buffet incudes family-style homemade minestrone soup, turkey, roast beef, and tuna salad sandwiches, sweet and sour kielbasa with peppers and onions, pasta with marinara sauce, Boston baked beans, potato salad, relish tray, potato chips, cake for dessert and choice of beverage.

 

Theere will be a chance to look in the gift shop as you exit Battleship Cove.

 

The price includes motor coach transportation, visit to Battleship Cove, buffet lunch and all taxes and gratuities.

 

USS COLLETT Reunion '2012' Banquet/Meeting Begins at 5:15 PM.

 

The banquet is a sit down dinner, with a choice of three entrees in the Grand Ballroom.  There will be a cash bar in the ballroom.  The business meeting will follow the dinner.

 

Sunday - 16th - Departure Day

 

Hospitality room open 7:30 AM until 12:00 Noon.

Extended stay, same room rates if made before August 13, 5:00 PM.
